The other night this girl who was really nothing more than a spoiled brat came in with her parents. I guess she was probably 18-19 years old and dressed quite well.
She asks me if we have the Tuna Salad that we serve for lunch and that is what she would like to have. Although a lot of the company's restaurants that I work for are open for lunch my particular restaurant is not. We operate only during the evening.
Well I say to her we do not open for lunch but after some insistence I state that I will go to the kitchen and ask them if we can fix up her tuna salad as we do have tuna entree on the menu.
The chef says sure we can do that. Just punch in the grilled tuna and instead of the usual rice that comes with it press the sub house salad with the wasabi dressing on the side and we will put the sliced tuna on top of the salad. Fair enough , I learn something about what the company carries on the lunch menu elsewhere and she is happy she is getting what she wants.
So upon presenting the table with the bill she calls me over after checking it out and says I charged her too much and that if she knew she had to pay that much she wouldn't have ordered it. She said the tuna we gave her was not a dinner portion in her opinion and she should have been charged a lunch time price for it instead.
Well you young tart and a half you came in and asked for something off a lunch menu that doesn't exist and now you expect to pay a lunch time price for it after making it exactly the way you wanted it. You see I had to charge a dinner price for it cause it is a dinner portion we gave you , only instead of having let's say rice with it you wanted a salad substitution.
Needless to say we gave it to her for free so she could take the sullen look off her face and make her happy.
Hey that is pretty good though. Just go into a restaurant and during dinner ask for something off their lunch menu they serve elsewhere. Then get dinner size portion but complain you should only have to pay lunch time price for it. Then get it for free or write and complain about it later.
What a concept!
